The picture above shows the most expensive car of 2017 the Aston Martin Valkyrie code named: AM-RB 001 which is one of a kind and
sells for about $3.9 million with a
6.5L V12 engine of about 1, 000 horse power. This high performance Red Bull
racing car is such a beauty to behold, but the twist to the whole story is that
this car is that despite being produced in 2017 distribution of this car will
commence in 2018. In my years as a Brand Strategist, I have come to know that
the value you communicate overtime determines whether you will be priced as a
premium brand or an ordinary brand. I remember while in the business school we
had a debate as you whether prices should be value driven or volume driven and
at the end of the debate it was agreed that most businesses should adopt the
pricing system suitable for their kind of products or market, however some
businesses adopted both pricing system and created products that are value and
volume driven e.g. Honda and Toyota; Toyota created the Lexus brand for those
who are value driven and have taste for luxury while their normal cars are
durable and affordable by majority of the populace, same thing Honda did with
Acura and their normal Honda brand, why am I saying all these? This is
applicable in real life situations, if you want to be someone of worth whose
words and presence people will value, you ought to take yourself serious and
send the right signals across. I can’t imagine Bill Gates giving you five minutes of his time and all you do is ask
if you can take pictures with him. Sounds quite funny right? But that is what a lot of people do
with golden opportunities life present to them. I am of the opinion that the
use of social media shouldn’t be regulated since the owners have put some
regulatory measures in place already but it baffles me how people make such folly
of themselves on social media and I ask, while posting on social media what
value proposition are you sending across? I am to be taken serious or I am just
one jobless individual with loads data to play around with? It is not just
about social media alone, when people get to meet and interact with you, by
your actions and words what are you saying to them? When the Cadillac 16 was
made, the company made just one Cadillac 16 and tagged it priceless, which of
course was a strategy to attract high value. When companies that produces some
of these expensive cars insist on perusing through the bank statements of
prospective buyers it is because they want you to understand that the product(s)
you are buying has a high value attached to it.
And I ask: If you were to be taken to the market place, how
much do you think a buyer will be willing to pay to have you? Think about it,
until I come your way next time, happy new month and please do enjoy your
holiday!
